Submissions are now open for the 2012/2013 awards Print E-mail

Boardgame designers, publishers and distributors are invited to
submit their games for consideration for the
2012/2013 Boardgames Australia awards.

There are three awards made each year:

  • Best Children's Game,
  • Best International Game,
  • Best Australian Game.

 

Eligibility

  • The game must be available from shops in at least two Australian capital cities
    or by mail order / online from an established Australian retailer (not an eBay store).

  • The game must have become available in English from Australian retailers
    for the first time between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.
    The exception is for the Best Australian Game, where the time window is
    January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2012.

  • It must be a stand-alone game, not an expansion or part-game,
    that requires purchase of another base game to play.

  • The Best Australian Game must have significant creative content
    from designers, developers or illustrators generated by
    an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Key dates

  • Submit games for consideration - by 15 March, 2013

  • Award winners announced - Australian Toy & Game Expo 2013

New Zealand Games Association

Across the Tasman, things are stirring.

Not a Kraken, but NZ gaming.

The New Zealand Games Association has been running a year and has a web site with lots of news and info.

The recent game Endeavour is designed by some Kiwis, and has been a  big hit with the Aussies who have played it.
